About Grounding

What is grounding?

Grounding (also called earthing) connects your body to the Earth's natural electrical charge. It works the same way as walking barefoot on grass or sand. The SomniTerra™ sheet lets you get this effect while you sleep.

Is grounding backed by science?

Yes. Peer-reviewed research shows grounding can reduce inflammation, improve sleep, and lower cortisol levels. It helps your body discharge built-up static electricity from screens and devices.

Is it safe to plug into my wall outlet?

Yes. The cord only connects to the ground port, not the electrical current. There's a built-in safety resistor that protects you in case of a wiring fault. You won't feel any electricity.

Will it work in an apartment?

Yes. As long as your outlet has a working ground port, the sheet will work. Most modern buildings have grounded outlets.

What if my home doesn't have a grounded outlet?

You can use a grounding rod placed outside in the soil as an alternative. Contact us if you need help with setup.

Using the Sheet

Do I need bare skin contact?

You'll get the best results with skin contact, but thin pajamas still work. The more skin touching the sheet, the better.

Can I put a regular sheet over it?

For best results, sleep directly on the grounding sheet. A thin cotton sheet on top may reduce effectiveness.

How do I know if it's working?

Most customers notice better sleep within the first few nights. You can also use a multimeter to measure the voltage in your body before and after touching the sheet.

Will it interfere with a pacemaker or metal implants?

If you have a pacemaker or metal implants, consult your doctor before use.

What if I'm allergic to silver or nickel?

This sheet contains 10% silver fiber. If you have a silver or nickel allergy, please consult your doctor before use.

What is it made of?

90% certified organic cotton and 10% pure silver fiber. No chemicals, unbleached, and non-toxic.

How long will it last?

With proper care, the sheet stays effective for years. Avoid fabric softener and bleach to maintain conductivity.

How do I wash it?

Do:

  • Wash at least twice a month (weekly is better)
  • Machine wash or hand wash
  • Use warm water, around 105°F (40°C)
  • Tumble dry on low or line dry

Don't:

  • No bleach or fabric softeners
  • No whitening detergents, oxi-detergents, or detergents with oils (lavender, coconut, etc.)
  • No dryer sheet fabric softeners
  • No lotions or body oils before bed
